Messier 3 (NGC 5272) is a globular cluster located at a distance of 33,900 light-years from us. The object is situated in the constellation Canes Venatici. It is one of the brightest objects, with an apparent magnitude reaching 6.2. This is precisely why it holds a leading position in popularity among amateur astronomers. The absolute magnitude of M3 is -8.93, and it is 300,000 times more luminous than the Sun. It is moving toward us at a speed of 147.6 km/s. It contains approximately half a million stars, the brightest of which have a magnitude of 12.7 (average brightness is 14.23). The overall spectral type is F2, and its mass is 450,000 solar masses.
