And again M106, but this time with a completely different telescope... I specifically decided to compare two tubes: the SW Quattro 8S and my homemade one with a TS115/7 APO Triplet objective. Why not compare? The focal lengths are almost the same—760mm and 800mm respectively—though the relative apertures are f/3.8 versus f/7. Well, for some reason, I like the triplet more, especially how it renders an even field across the entire frame, but there's a problem with strange rays on bright stars. Right now, it's disassembled again—I'm shortening the tube a bit (there's not enough inward travel for the 0.8 reducer) and adding reflective baffles; maybe that's the issue.
