NGC 7635

I was reading about this just yesterday. Surprisingly, not every telescope performs poorly with this reducer. I had planned to buy a 0.6x, but I’ll hold off for now. I’ve read about the spacer for the back focus—it seems to be a practical solution from what people write. I have a 1x for this telescope, and it works without any issues.

With 1x, there's one problem—f/7. And that kills the desire to buy it. If the setup were permanently installed, you could still live with it. But I drive 60 km out of the city every time. And time becomes expensive at f/7.

60 km isn't that much; I drive 260 km for the sky. Yes, f/7 is certainly a narrow aperture. I took it to snap a couple of galaxies, and maybe to play around with the Moon using a Barlow.

Tried the 0.6X reducer today. Spent about an hour adjusting spacers. The best result came from extending the back focus by 3.1mm. Overall, the result is decent. Stars are slightly soft at the edges. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1i1yUGnneszbi-aHAul6wDqviu-MdMlku/view?usp=sharing

I checked, it's blurry at the edges. What file is this? Doesn't look like a single exposure, maybe a star-aligned stack? There are really intense blue halos around the stars.

Total of 10 frames. Tried the Antlia QuadBand filter. Also noticed these halos.
