It shoots very well at X0.8. But at X0.6, it's complete junk. I found a thread about this on the Astrobin forum. They say adding a 2mm spacer to the back focus significantly improves the situation. I'll try it today. I'm skeptical, but I need to find a way to adapt this reducer somehow.
I was reading about this just yesterday. Surprisingly, not every telescope performs poorly with this reducer. I had planned to buy a 0.6x, but I’ll hold off for now. I’ve read about the spacer for the back focus—it seems to be a practical solution from what people write. I have a 1x for this telescope, and it works without any issues.
With 1x, there's one problem—f/7. And that kills the desire to buy it. If the setup were permanently installed, you could still live with it. But I drive 60 km out of the city every time. And time becomes expensive at f/7.
60 km isn't that much; I drive 260 km for the sky.
Yes, f/7 is certainly a narrow aperture. I took it to snap a couple of galaxies, and maybe to play around with the Moon using a Barlow.
I checked, it's blurry at the edges. What file is this? Doesn't look like a single exposure, maybe a star-aligned stack? There are really intense blue halos around the stars.
