The Crescent Nebula (or NGC 6888) is an emission nebula in the constellation Cygnus. The nebula measures approximately 25 by 18 light-years. It is located about 4,700 light-years away from us. NGC 6888 was formed by the outflows from the supergiant star HD 192163, which is situated at the center of the nebula. The mass of this star is about 10 times that of the Sun.

The nebula formed around the star WR 136 (HD 192163), a Wolf–Rayet type star, due to the ionization by its fast stellar wind of slower-moving gas that was shed by this powerful star roughly 400,000 years ago.
