The open cluster M 52 in the constellation Cassiopeia. This is a fairly bright and rich star cluster, almost exactly on the border of the constellations Cepheus and Cassiopeia. Despite the abundance of background stars, it is not difficult to find in a pair of binoculars at roughly equal distances from the stars β Cassiopeiae and ι Cephei, less than a degree south of the orange star 4 Cas (magnitude 5). In the field of view of binoculars or a small telescope, several stars and a fairly bright, diffuse background glow are visible at the location of M 52.
