I like it. Did you crop a lot? I have this nebula complex on the same setup, but with one difference—the main camera sensor. It's a bit larger, of course.

Cropped just a little. Only to emphasize the size of the nebula. It also looks good without cropping.

By the way, at first it seemed like it was 3 to 4, but in fact it's almost 1 to 1)

My camera sensor has a format of 11.31x11.31. You could say it's 1:1.

Very cool! I haven't shot Orion in a long time, and I really want to.
Could you please explain the purpose of shooting in 3 different "combinations" of exposure and gain? I've seen many people do it, but I don't understand why.

The idea was to capture the nebula's core. If you shoot with long exposures all the time, the brighter parts of the nebula will be overexposed and difficult to recover. I didn’t take enough 30-second frames—I should have also taken some 10–15 second shots. Proper processing saved the object.

Understood, thank you! I'll continue to look into this.

HDR, masks, or stacking — all at once?

I didn't quite understand the question. Could you be more specific?

What method was used to combine the exposures?

Deepskystacker is a program, it seems to be indicated in the software.

This is a stack of images taken with different exposures. My question was about the next step of combining the stacks themselves.

And where do the diffraction spikes come from on a refractor? )
