The M33 galaxy in the constellation Triangulum. One of the nearest galaxies to us, it belongs to our galaxy cluster, the Local Group.
RGB image. I spent a long time working on it. My eyes got tired, so I took a break. I didn’t add an L channel because I had to reduce the galaxy’s brightness when converting from linear to nonlinear. Something like that... I guess I couldn’t avoid some haze here either. But also, not many frames were captured. As they say, it is what it is.

I blend the L channel on a linear image, then everything matches in brightness.
Actually, it's better not to shoot L at all—fewer problems that way.

I didn't get why I should shoot L either. I've processed about six of them and never ended up using that L anywhere.
I do almost all my processing on the linear image. Stretching is almost always the last step before saving the final result.
