It is one of the largest and oldest impact craters on the Moon, with a diameter of about 230 km. It is located in the southwestern part of the Moon's visible side, south of the crater Tycho. Almost immediately, its interesting feature catches the eye: inside Clavius, there is a chain of smaller craters that form a curved arc.
