I didn't think nebulae would be so clear with a soft filter. What filter did you use?
The exposure also surprised me.

No filter was used, either because the lens had already fogged up (no dew heater was used) or due to cloudiness. The exposure was short because the object was low in the sky and quickly disappeared behind the clouds. However, calibration frames were taken, and I believe they significantly improved the quality of the final image.
