My new assistant in astrophotography)
The Sky-Watcher EQ6-R Pro equatorial mount.
A homemade star tracker is fine, of course, but it can't really handle even a small Newtonian telescope properly. The focuser alone weighs as much as a camera lens. Plus the minimum accessories: a coma corrector, mounting rings and plate, a guide scope and its mount, the camera. In the end, it adds up to a considerable weight, and a Newtonian has more wind resistance than a camera lens.
I somehow managed to shoot at 30-second exposures with a fair amount of rejects, but that's not serious for astrophotography.
That's why I got this mount. I can later hang a larger telescope on it. Also, theoretically, I can shoot simultaneously with the EQ6-R and the homemade star tracker and increase productivity in one night.
Test photos from using the EQ6-R and the Meade LightBridge Mini 114 together, which I managed to take over the summer, will follow.
