Hello Anna!!! I'm asking about OnStep. I also have OnStep v5 for EQ 3-2, but the maximum exposure I can do with it is 10 seconds. If I set it longer, the stars stretch into trails with my Canon EOS 7D and Celestron AstroMaster 130.
I set everything up very precisely. Do you know what the problem might be?
Hello.
It's generally odd if you're setting everything up correctly. So, you need to level the mount. Then turn on the system and enable star tracking. Align the polar axis. It's advisable to do a star alignment with at least two stars, but you can skip it altogether. Well, with alignment, it seems to track more accurately. Sometimes it happens that you start shooting with a long exposure, and the stars trail into streaks, but if they're short, you can wait, take more frames, and it should be fine later. Like the mount slightly moves the tube. If longer exposures still don't work out, you can try enabling the guide system. There, if you center it a few times, you might get it to work. Also, try asking on the astronomy forum. The manufacturer of this system is there directly, they might have more tips)
