I saw this nebula in Stellarium without a name, decided to try it, when I started shooting I thought nothing would be visible, just a very faint red circle. Then I found this object on our hosting by Ivan Donvar and, already knowing the name, decided to accumulate more data. The result for me is a record 2.5 nights on an object, fortunately this year the sky is giving a little bit.
LBN 576 \ (or SNR G116.9+00.1, Abell 85 and CTB 1) - a faint supernova remnant located almost 10,000 light years from Earth. It is also estimated to be about 10,000 years old. Until recently it was thought to be a planetary nebula, but recent research confirms it is a supernova remnant, the closest known to Earth. This object, also called the Broken Balloon or Medulla Nebula, is the remnant of ejecta formed during a supernova explosion. The expanding shock wave of material interacts with a large gas cloud, causing various elements such as hydrogen, oxygen, and sulfur to emit light at specific wavelengths. The image also includes a large emission nebula consisting of several massive clouds of gas and dust.
An excellent result for such a short total exposure. People usually collect twice as much data for this object. And with a color camera—absolutely fantastic.
