The main thing was that there weren't so many streetlights in the city. I observed both from the balcony and from the roof of a five-story building.

In 1997, my wife was in the hospital for pregnancy monitoring. I visited her at the maternity hospital every evening, and whenever the weather was clear, I saw this comet. It was very bright—almost visible during the day—and hung quite high above the horizon.
