So, the topic has shifted to dust, and I'm looking at budget setups.)))
Well then, here's what we've got:
In the last couple of weeks before my military service, I decided to coordinate with my landscape photographer friend to shoot IFN dust around the Iris Nebula area.
The task was hellishly difficult: We only had a mechanical tracker AT-1 with a clock drive and no guiding, a camera without cooling, and skies that were too polluted for dust. We were severely limited in exposure time due to heavy dark current and constant star trailing. Every 15 frames, over six hours, for two consecutive nights, my friend had to recenter the target and adjust focus.
It was an unforgettable experience in squeezing the maximum out of both the setup and human patience.
Personally, I think this is an excellent result for a collaboration with someone shooting DSO for only the second time in their life.
Nevertheless, I pass the IFN dust baton to whoever can shoot it better and cheaper:
