Melotte 111 is an open cluster in the constellation Coma Berenices, one of the closest to Earth (about 288 light-years). It contains about 40 stars with magnitudes ranging from 5 to 10m.

Near the cluster, two bright galaxies from the Caldwell catalog and other fainter galaxies can be observed:

Caldwell 38 (NGC 4565) — the "Needle" Galaxy, seen almost edge-on.

Caldwell 36 (NGC 4559) — a spiral galaxy with active star formation.
