One of the brightest and largest galaxies of the southern hemisphere. NGC 253 is often described as the southern sky's counterpart to the Andromeda Galaxy. Pixel math in Siril was used to add narrowband H-alpha (Ha) data to the broadband RGB image. The imaging was done in September and November 2025. The galaxy has a high content of interstellar dust and powerful star formation. Distance is about 10 million light-years. Diameter is about 90,000 light-years. Apparent size is 29.0' × 6.8'.
