A young open star cluster in the constellation Serpens. It is associated with an emission nebula (H II region) known as IC 4703. Distance 5200 light-years. The physical size of IC 4703 is 70x55 light-years. The physical size of M 16 is 15 light-years. The total apparent size is about 80'x50'. I will definitely accumulate more material this summer! Unfortunately, I'm leaving for MSK tomorrow((
