Is it significantly worse without the IR-685?

Thank you.
Altitude above the horizon is less than 20 degrees. The 685 filter significantly smooths it out.
I am using a Baader VIP 2x Barlow lens.

Altitude above the horizon is less than 20 degrees. The 685 filter significantly smooths it out.
I am using a Baader VIP 2x Barlow lens.
