
Roof of the house... city. SN 2026fvx is a Type Ia supernova (thermonuclear explosion of a white dwarf).
This type is important because such outbursts always have roughly the same peak luminosity (they are called "standard candles"). This allows precise determination of the distance to the host galaxy NGC 4205 (~77 million light-years).
