SN2026aaiv was discovered on September 1, 2026, by the asteroid impact with Earth warning system - ATLAS. At discovery it had a brightness of magnitude 17.3, now approximately magnitude 13.

Imaging was carried out on the night of August 24-25 and September 4-5, 2026.
