This is a non-periodic comet with a hyperbolic orbit, discovered in May 2017 at a distance of 16.09 AU from the Sun, beyond the orbit of Saturn. The radius of the comet's nucleus, based on observations from the Hubble Space Telescope, is approximately 18 km.
On July 6, 2022, the comet crossed the celestial equator for an Earth-based observer, and on July 14, 2022, it will pass at a distance of 1.8 AU from Earth. The comet will reach perihelion around December 19, 2022 and will be near the orbit of Mars.
