I reworked some old material while trying to learn PixInsight. The Soul Nebula, S2-199, LBN 667 Mount: MT-90 Telescope: TS-Photon 8" f/4 Coma corrector: Starizona Nexus 0.75x Camera: ZWO ASI 2600mc Finder scope: 32x125mm Guide camera: ZWO ASI 178mm Filter: IDAS NBZ Total integration: 4.0 hours Date: October 16, 2022 Single exposure: 300 seconds Bin 1x1, Sensor temperature: 0°C ISO/Gain: 0 Calibration: 30 darks, 30 biases, 30 flats Processing: DSS, FITStacker, Nebulosity4, Starnet, PixInsight, Photoshop Sky brightness: Orange zone.
Beautiful. The slight distortion of the stars is due to placing the filter in front of the Starizona 0.75x corrector. Through experience, it has been verified that stars are pinpoint only when the filter is in the filter drawer behind the corrector.
I didn't quite get the exposure segment right, and I didn't bother adjusting it further—I just shot as is. Plus, I didn't have a slider; I just bought one (a colleague is selling theirs), so it should be easier with filters now. Changing them without one was a whole ordeal.
