Strong wind with gusts, guiding errors up to 12". Many frames had to be discarded due to defects.

How much was the error? Up to 12"? Is that even possible? At 3", stars already stretch into little comets, and here we have 12...

I've never seen such an error before. In strong wind, I was using a 6", and naturally, everything went into the trash. The tube is a 150 pds. But the mount is also Heq. I don't shoot in the wind anymore. Too many nerves, too little enjoyment.
You were shooting remotely and didn't see that the stars were like this?

No, it's just the first clear night with relatively warm weather for February in four months. Before this, there were clear nights, but the temperature was around -35. We didn't want to miss this one, hoping the gusts would stop.
