Comet 10P/Tempel (also known as Tempel 2) is a large periodic comet that recently passed its peak brightness on August 2–3, 2026. It is currently moving through the southern constellation of Piscis Austrinus. It reached perihelion (closest point to the Sun) on August 2 and made its closest approach to Earth on August 3 at a safe distance of approximately 62 million kilometres
