Located in the constellation Eridanus. Distance from 680 to 1300 light-years. Physical size about 70 light-years. Apparent size 180'x60'. It is believed that the nebula reflects the light of Rigel, then the distance to it is 680 light-years. There is also a version that it is illuminated by the bright stars of the Trapezium of Orion, in which case it is located at a distance of 1300 light-years.
